Embracing Authenticy in Midlife

Alberto Villoldo, one of my mentors, wrote a wonderful book, “Grow a New Body”. When I think of that title, it makes me feel infinite and expansive. But when I use the word aging, it feels like a story long ago that my grandma, of blessed memory, told me. She said, “We live, we eat, sleep, work, and then we die and go into the ground. That’s it.”

I loved my Ma. She was a beautiful, strong, stoic woman who grew up with that belief about aging and dying. But she came to me in a dream last week and showed me an image of her dancing with a huge smile on her face.

I knew she found a different way on the other side.

And I know it is my job to grow a new body and embrace this body with all my heart and soul so that when it is my turn to be released from this earth, I embrace it fully.

This is what aging means to me.

Growing a new body means embracing who we are in it fully. It means taking a peek under the hood and somatically feeling into it and exploring who the heck is actually in there.

Growing a new body means embracing the changes in ourselves and our bodies with the care and love we would give a young child. It is hard to grow. And giving ourselves love as we explore our changing bodies allows for the most miraculous things to happen:

We blossom

Our bodies thrive

We heal old trauma and feel more free

We discover the God in our bodies

We get to know our spirit guides in our organs

We are finally free

We are free to let go of the need to be fancy all of the time

We are free and safe to let our nervous systems unwind and take a break

We are free to love ourselves just as we are

We are free to heal

We are free to remember that this body is a temporary gift to house our souls while we are here on Earth.

Perhaps the greatest gift in life is to truly embody spirit right inside of our messy bodies.

That 5D, high vibration, higher consciousness we are all looking for is right inside our digestive systems and the blood flowing through our veins.

In my video this week, I am vulnerable about aging, embodying, and walking around at 6:30 in the morning with no makeup and feeling pretty ok with it, but also a bit nervous!
