October is a Time to Honor Our Ancestors
Dear Friends,
Raising my kids in Boston and Iowa, I always felt the power of fall. I loved the changing of the season, the pumpkins, and the gold leaves falling from the trees. I adored apple picking and raking golden and red leaves from the ground. I loved the cooler weather and the release from the summer heat.
It also gave me an excuse to curl up early in the mornings before the kids were awake, in meditation, feeling the pull of my ancestors calling me.
I began to understand why this season felt so potent. Beyond the beautiful saturation of all those fall colors, the true magic of this season happens in the unseen. In Kabbalah, Jewish mysticism, autumn is the time when the veil between the worlds grows thin.
As the above-ground world begins to cool down and eventually returns to the roots, the hidden rises to the surface—lost dreams, the realms of the spirits, our deeper connection to Spirit, and that stream of energy that runs beneath all things.
This is our preparation for the winter quiet, if we allow it. In autumn, we have the ability to connect to a realm of reality that we normally can’t touch or experience.
Throughout so much of the year, we yearn to make these connections with the unseen world: to speak to the spirits of the trees or hear the forest sing, to hold a loved one’s hand who has passed, or to receive clear messages about what the future may bring. In fall, we are blessed with moments of understanding on a journey that so often seems hidden in mystery.
Join me and beautiful, sacred sisters in community on October 8, 2024 at the Wildflower Guidance Gathering (formerly called Healing Circle) to connect with and honor our ancestors.
Sending Love,
